Hearing world, unlimited fantasy, welcome to the radio station of XXMU. We are a team, yes we can. This is Be in English, I'm Tony. As time goes by, we become more and more mature and rational. Gradually, 2018 is coming to an end. Looking back on 2018, what are the things you will never forget, what are the things that will make you grow up. For me, well, quite a bit. There's too much to remember for everyone in 2018. Song of the Year, Person of the Year, Film of the Year... We're not talking today. So today we're talking about things related to Word of the Year of 2018. After the song, please stay tuned.

Recently, Oxford Dictionaries announced that it has chosen toxic as its annual Word of the Year. I have to say that this word is really magical. Are you toxic? This sentence has really been a mantra for me. In 2018, people began to use toxic to describe things, situations, problems and events unprecedentedly. More and more people use toxic to discuss social health and environmental issues, such as air, algae, chemicals, plastic pollution and so on. But maybe it's a better word for us to use in games.

Defining the word as poisonous, Oxford said it had become a descriptor for the year's most talked about topics. The dictionary pointed to a 45 percent rise in the number of times the word has been looked up on its website, and said it best captured the ethos, mood, or preoccupations of 2018, thanks to the sheer scope of its application. So, we also understand that this word can extend more meanings, such as stress, culture, work environment, and interpersonal relationships. So, the next time someone says toxic, maybe it's not abusing you.

Oxford's word of the year is intended to reflect the passing year in language. Like Youthquake in 2017, Post-truth in 2016, face with tears of joy emoji in 2015. These words can really represent the mood of human beings and the topics that we all care about the year. Of course, there are other media that summarize the Word of the Year of 2018. For example, Single-use by Collins Dictionary. But for everyone, 2018 belongs to you. So, the Word of the Year is the one in your heart. For me, the Word of the Year is growth. Because growth makes my 2018 more colorful.

OK. That's all for today's program, what's the Word of the Year of you? Leave your ideas in the comments section. I'm Tony. See you next Tuesday, bye.
